Many people believe that this is the best UK private pressing from the last thirty years; that's a very bold statement, but it does not detract from the excellence of this record. In any case, the label says the following: “Released in 1982, but most songs were written in the '70s and sound like that. This is surely one of the all-time best folk-psych albums, with amazing songwriting and tremendous Floyd-styled electric leads and backing band. Stunning musicianship, line-up features Jimmy Litherland (Colosseum, Jade) and Mark Brezicki (Procol Harum). Fortunately, Bob Theil is getting recognition now." and a review: "Bob Theil's gorgeously crafted "So Far" album was recorded in 1982, when it must have been hopelessly allergic to any trace of zeitgeist. The skill sown into So Far is immediately apparent. Lyrical musings balanced around one man's thoughtful search are countered by a guitar-picking complexity worthy of Jansch and, if at all possible, beyond. Theil has produced a set of songs that will remain similarly fresh." Mick Middles, Record Collector. Five bonus tracks are from Theil's 1980 "Another Flight" EP, featuring songs written between 1971-1977. As Theil said, "I wrote, read, played folk clubs, listened to and digested artists such as Leonard Cohen, Roy Harper, Michael Chapman, John Martyn, Sandy Denny, Nick Drake, Richard Thompson, Jethro Tull and the Peter Gabriel fronted Genesis.
